DAY 1. Bouganvillea Hotel. Alajuela. Great Gardens and good birds only 45-minute drive from Airport. Ideal place to start the trip.
DAY 2-3: Hotel Costa Verde. Quepos. Great birding region specially in the mountains of Naranjito. One good stop between central valley and Corcovado. Even when Manuel Antonio is highly touristy, this stop gives us local birds and nice ocean views.
DAY 4-5-6. Casa Corcovado wilderness Lodge. The best location connected to Corcovado National Park. We leave the car in Sierpe town and enjoy the beautiful boat ride along mangrove forest. This boat transfer navigates on fresh water along the biggest mangrove forest in Central America and the second part is along the pacific coast line. So much wild life to discover at the hotel grounds full of trials, just as much as the National Park itself.
DAY 7-8: Las Cruces Biological Sation. San Vito. After the visit on the coast, we take you to San Vito, located along the most southern tip of Talamanca Mountain range at 5000 feet of elevation (1500 mts). This research station owns over 365 hectares, 10 hectares dedicated exclusively to the Wilson Botanical Garden, one of the most important plant collections in Central America.
DAY 9-10: Savegre lodge. San Gerardo Dota. Best place in Costa Rica to find one of the most beautiful birds of the world: Resplendent Quetzal. This region holds many exclusive birds found only Costa Rica and Panama (Nearly endemic). A great variety of Hummingbirds. The lodge owns amazing grounds surrounded by local orchards, Savegre river and Oak cloud Forest. Elevation 7000 feet approx. / 2200 mts. The highest stop during the journey. Bring your sweater!
DAY 11: Buena Vista Chic Hotel: Surrounded by coffee fields and great views over Alajuela city. This is a great lodge to end our journey, located only 30 minutes’ drive from international airport Juan Santa Maria.
